Buying and installing an electric cooker – just a replacement for existing electric cooker?

Are the new regulations that need tobe follwed. My father went tobuy a cooker this week and the man at comet told him some new regulations have come in which means if the wiring isn’t right when they turn up they won’t be able to install. The exisiting cooker is wired into the Cooker socket – not by plug etc. is it not just a case of taking one cooker out and replacing with new cooker? Can anyone confirm?

The new cooker will use the same cable as the old one, it’s a simple swap over with three terminals, and should take about ten minutes. No doubt they will make a fuss and find some obscure excuse to not do it! As long as there is an isolator/ cooker control unit to kill the supply, they don’t really have one.
