How do I Pan Fry a Ribeye?
I have two eight once ribeyes I am going to fix up. I usually do all my cooking on a grill but its currently out of order. So I am going to pan fry these ribeyes. I dont ever cook anything stovetop so as much detail in how to cook these steaks medium without me overcooking the outsides would be great. They are 8oz ribeyes.
Hard to do… I hope they are thick (+ .75 inch) otherwise this is very difficult.
Panfrying means like 1/4″ of oil, medium hot pan and use a meat thermometer to keep from over cooking.
Pan Broiling – 2 min per side in a very hot pan.
But you are going make some smoke either way.
The problem is you need short high heat to get them done without over cooking. The outsides should be browned – I dunno what you mean by over cooking the outsides.
This takes practice.
I would prefer preheating a castiron pan in the oven until the oven is at 450, then turn on the broiler, put steaks in pan and go 4 min a side – The Minimalist Cook at NY Times teaches this method. It works very well.
