How do you keep water from leaking out of your hydrogen generator from around the electrodes? I am builing one
I am builing this at home and am having problems with the water and gas coming out from around the electrodes. What do you use? Also, I am using 6″ PVC, what are you using? I am concerned about a spark from the electrode and blowing up? What will happen to the PVC? Thanks
First of all, use all stainless steel nuts and bolts and washers and electrodes. Secondly, you need to get your electrode wire into the chamber without it leaking. There are several ways to do this. The common way is to have your bucket full of electrolyte
sitting there, then put an upside down jar or other dome over the top of your electrodes, down in the bucket, to catch the bubbles. But if you need to run the electrode wires through a plastic wall, then you can do it a couple ways. One is to use a stainless bolt with two big stainless flat washers and two thick soft rubber washers, then sandwich it all together such that the PVC plastic is in between the two rubber washers, which are in between the two stainless washers, which are in between the two stainless nuts, all on the stainless bolt. Another way, if your electrodes are big in diameter and round, then you could run them through a slightly larger PVC fitting, then put a piece short but fat rubber tube over the electrode and the PCV pipe that the electrode is sticking through, then use hoseclamps to clamp the rubber tube down firmly onto both the electrode and the PCV pipe.
