I set my grill on fire.My 1st instinct was to shove it inside the cooker and close the door, wud it’ve worked?
I tried to block up the gaps too while I called for help (thinking it would stop it from having oxygen.)
With help I dampened some tea towels and put the fire out like that, but I need to know whether it might have worked trapping it in the top oven and keeping the air out, or if it would have blown up in my face. Having a zillion nightmares dudes.
(I didn’t realise my dad had left so much fat in the bottom of the grill pan. 
I’ll know in future for sure.)
1st never move a burning pan of grease, it could splash and catch other things on fire. Or worse you could have been burned really badly. The damp towels were a good idea for quick thinking. Baking soda if it was handy would have good as well. Putting it in the oven could have created more problems, ovens have air vents other than the cracks around the door. So it would have continued to get air. And never through water on a grease fire.
