What healthy ingredient can be put into homemade bread that is a natural preservative and mold inhibitor?
Looking for natural preservatives for homemade bread goods
We couldn’t come up with anything to preserve our breads so have resorted to two different things…
1. Slice the bread and freeze half of it.
2. Put the remaining half-loaf in a Tupperware bread container, which has a grate in the bottom to promote air circulation.
It works pretty well and we rarely have moldy bread these days. When we do we wash the container with a bleach solution. Once mold gets into plastic it’s the only way to get rid of it. Depending on how you’ve been storing your bread that could be part of the problem.
