Do these recipe instruction sound right to you?
“Combine rinsed quinoa, water, onion, garlic, and a little salt in medium saucepan and turn heat to high”
I’ve never put onions in water to cook them like that- is that normal or could it be a mistake or misunderstanding?
I do it in soups and stews and in dried beans.
Just because most recipes say to sautee the onions in butter before adding them to anything doesn’t signify. You are just precooking and adding unneeded fat to the dish.
Of course you could cook everything first before adding it to the pot, but that is time consuming and very unnecessary.
