sometimes i watch Ina Garten and Giada make dough and they sometimes use a food processor, but then they sometimes use their kitchenaid mixer..

It depoends on what your’re making or what you’re going to use the dough for. If you mix in a bread maker, it mixes, proofs (makes it raise) and then cooks it all in one machine.
Mixers with dough hooks, usually are for homemade bread that doesn’t need a machine or is forms without a machine (rolls, boule’s, bagettes, etc. Sometimes the bread doesn’t need to be kneeded like a bread machine will. Just punched down and used that way. (pizza dough is made that way)
Food processors are used if the dough is made for pies or pastries where you don’t want the warmth of your hands making the dough tough. (pie dough likes cold butter, cold water and makes a flakier crust than it would if your warm hands kneeded it.) It’s also great for making small particles of dough, it makes pies flakier, and pie shells crisp.
