Did I break my Panini maker since I use it to make thin cheese sandwiches (grill cheese) my friend said I?
ruined it because the top and bottom heated metal plates were too close to each other.
And I should of only used it to make thick sandwiches (so the heated metal top and bottom parts won’t come to close to each other).
Many panini makers have floating hinges to allow for different size sandwiches, like the Cuisinart GR-1 – GR-4 models. Check to see if you have floating hinges. Most panini makers also advertsie that they can handle thin sandwiches like grilled cheese as well as thick paninis.
Most Panini presses also have non-stick plates so the only way you would ruin the plate is if you scratched the coating off, but it will still heat and work. I don’t think you have anything to worry about.
