Is a .45 micron carbon filter sufficient to filter cesium-137 and iodine-131?

I can’t seem to find the size in microns of cesium-137 or iodine-131 so I’m not sure what size filter is needed to block them.

Don’t worry about the specific nature of the atoms, worry about the size of the particles.

The BEST filtration you can get would be from a respirator that, in the US, is labeled P-100 or HEPA filter. That filter will remove 99.97% of all particles in the airstream with an AED of 0.3 microns. That’s the best commercially available filter you can get.

To do any better, you’d have to go with a military air-purifying respirator cartridge, or SCBA.
