Pressure canning HELP!?

I am canning for the first time. I have been following the instructions to a T yet the weight won’t “wiggle”. I have a 22qt Mirro canner, let the steam come out for 10 minutes then put the weight on. All that happened was that steam came out of the little holes in the weight, no wiggling. How long does it take to wiggle or do I turn it down now??

According to canningpantry.com, after you place the weight on the vent it will take three to five minutes to pressurize or when your gauge shows you have reached the recommended pressure.Then you can begin timing it.
