how can you reverse “PC recovery”or “system recovery”?
i went into the “start” menu, then “all programs”, then “sytem recovery”, then “pc recovery”. i lost all of my files and folders and pics and documents. grrrrrr! i meant to MAKE a recovery disk with “pc recovery disk creator” and instead, i wiped out all of my info. my programs are still listed in “all programs” but when i look in “add/remove programs” they are gone. when i click on them from “all programs” some work and some dont. i have windows xp. i used “PC Inspector File Recovery” freeware to retrieve the files but it said most of the files are corrupted. HELPPPPP!!!!! i have pictures of loved ones (deceased) that are irreplaceable and am desperate to retrieve all my files, music and documents too.
I’m so sorry you had this problem. Unfortunately, you did a restore, which is not reversible.
Maybe your data is still on your hard drive. Make sure that you can see everything, even hidden folders.
Control Panel–> Folder Options–>View
Turn on Hidden Files, Show Hidden Files and Folders
Then open a Windows Explorer and go to Documents and Settings. See if you can find your userid and the data folders. Or do a search on a filename and see if you can locate it and the rest of your data.
Unfortunately, your applications will no longer work. They must be reinstalled. (I hope you have the installation discs.) Your music may be a problem if it uses drm (digital rights manager), though maybe you can find the rights file also.
It might be worth taking your computer to a professional to see if your data is retrievable.
