I set my crock pot on high for several hours then turned it to medium another 4 hours the food was lukewarm.?

I put a small turkey breast and some vegetables in the pot around 8 AM. It is 5 Pm now and the chicken seems tough and although the vegetables are done, they are not hot. I’ve turned the crockpot back up to Hot (the highest setting) to cook a while longer. Did I not give it enough time to cook? The liquid on medium is barely lukewarm so I am wondering is there is something wrong. This is my second time using it. I don’t have a problem with recipes only the crockpot working correctly. Thanks for you help.
Responding to rssr27 – your response was really funny. Thanks. I’m wearing a turkey hat to remind myself that I cooked turkey today. I think I found the problem and agree with you all, I set the dial between the High and Low and maybe there’s no setting there. I’ll try your suggestion and put some water and take its temperature. Thanks.

You are really in need of help with this one. First off, throw that magic pot in the neighbors garbage,and do it quick.
If I had put turkey into the pot, and 8hours later it turned into chicken, I’d run.
But aside from the magic part, at what point did the veggies get done if the liquid stayed cool? and what was the internal temperature of the mess that was left, be it chicken or turkey breast. Did the recipe call for the heat reduction at that time?
Thats the time it seems like the pot quit working.
Try the pot with plain water on high for about three hours, take the temperature, then turn it down as with that mystery meat and see if the temp quits or gets real low. Might be the thermostat or switch at fault.
