does anyone know if i can use egg poacher to cook dhokla?

I want to make dhokla and don’t have a large enough steamer but it dawned on me that these egg poaching pans have the small egg pods, ideal for steaming? Any dhokla experts out there?
And does anyone know where I can get a dhokla steamer, micro or otherwise in London or mail order ? A friend of mine has a dhokla thing going on at the moment and I have a good recipe. Thanks for answers so far.

Talk about getting creative in the kitchen and using what you have! What an interesting idea & in theory, it should work. It will only be limited by the number of egg pods, but they will have a unique and fun shape! Were you planning to use a steamer or the microwave? I am not a big fan of using the microwave as a steamer although some people do swear by it. I just simply use small thalis in a pressure cooker for steaming dhokla, it works everytime!

PS: Make sure the egg poaching pans are safe to use for steaming. Poaching is a slow gentle process and steaming is a more intense high heat method; just make sure if it’s plastic, that it wont warp or melt! Good Luck!
