“Noodle” nonsense….umm, and not the one you might think 
. Please read on?
Anyone have any tips, tricks, shoot, common sense? regarding how in the hay to prevent water from pooling on the plate? I cook them, strain, rinse, shake the strainer, even shake a bunch hanging from some tongs before placing them on the plate. But, in spite of all this nonsense, lots of water still somehow ends up on the plate, by the time I sauce them. So, then I try and tip the plate to catch the excess with paper towel. There must be a better way? .
And, in case any of you are wondering, no, in fact I am NOT a cooking genius, although it may readily appear that way . *Cough*, *cough*, rather obvious bit, perhaps .

I may not be qualified to answer a question on cooking, but your use of paper towel suggests that the noodles could be placed on a water absorbing cloth/tissue which should rid of most of the water.
