Anthony Hamilton’s The Aim Of Almost Everything
With his distinct, southern tinged vocals, he brings a classy and nuanced album, The Point of which All (Zomba). The opening track finds you bobbing your head and intently playing “The News.”
This incandescent depiction of the current state of those union is used by “Cool” – a track that was complete without David banner designs‘s repulsive interpretation – scratching dandruff away from another person’s scalp and picking someone’s nose is hardly “cool.” Hamilton’s “Diamond within the Rough” would be the exemplary R&B promise to better the union, set against an electrifying guitar solo plus some conventional ad libs.
2nd 50 % The Point of which All
Halfway through the album, the incantation that his “Soul’s inflamed” could well be mistaken to have a prayer, one who finds only your forehead against the cold, bathroom floor throughout the dark. The dark and cunning lyrics are set against an upbeat collage of a vintage percussion kit and an imminent piano that would haunt one’s dreams.
He follows this who has an eerie melody of confession in, “I Made it happen For Sho,” acknowledging “All the trips abroad / max’d out credit cards / occurring to Mr. Chow’s / I did it for sho.” Furthermore, while “I love you” as a chorus could easily fall under the category of cliché, it’s set amidst an array of subtle harmonies and finger snaps that emphasize the album title track, “The Point of them all.”
Point taken. Hamilton’s polished storytelling abilities dominate the lyrical content of retro-infused bass lines all of the while sending the listener with their knees, in church, together with the first one third “Prayin’ For You/Superman.”
Conclusion of The Point of it All
Once again, his recognition and plea for forgiveness in “Her Heart,” clone of 2004′s “Charlene,” (LaFace) is utterly poignant and thoroughly expressed with dramatic lines such as, “And since you cried inside my arms / you wakened my heart / but saw again what I discovered you.” Anthony Hamilton’s sixth album is a masterful weave of emotions seeking to ultimately saturate your soul which has a positive way of thinking, especially within his track “Fine Again.”
His skill to relate to general audiences, of these difficult times, makes the hook an audible chant for individuals for the pursuit of healing. As stated on your bio section of his web link, Hamilton references The purpose of it All by saying, "I’ve taken fans to church and baptized them; there do exist those who say I’ve healed them my music. Now we will boogie by the name of the Lord."
Clearly, Hamilton was attempting a carefully executed and classic album that could be played on repeat for years to come and he succeeded.
