If there is an air leak, you could have a much draftier house than if you ensure that you have all the sides sealed. Sealant is inexpensive to purchase, and will go a long way in warming your home. Take your curtains into consideration. Thick, heavy curtains will trap all the warmth into your home at night. You can buy beautiful curtains that compliment your home, but are thick enough to trap the heat in. You need to ensure that you keep the curtains open during the day to let in as much sunlight as possible, which will be key in warming your home!
Carpets and rugs are lovely ways of decorating your home, and are an important interior decorating aspect. In addition to their aesthetic qualities, they are excellent insulators. It is amazing how much cozier you can make your home with a soft and plush rug on a cold tile or wooden floor. When putting down your carpets and rugs make sure that you have a piece of anti-slip placed underneath. This will prevent the carpets from slipping and sliding around.
Should you live in a very cold place, you can consider installing a fireplace in your living room. They are relatively costly to install, so ensure that you find it to be a valuable investment.
