How warm or cold do white and red wine have to be?

Okay, so we want to give our guests wine today, but I heard that
white wine has to be cold and red wine has to be a bit warm?

Can anyone give me some info on this please? Because I also heard that white wine tastes like nothing when it's tóó cold and the same with red wine when it's too warm.

The ‘room temperature’ at which red wine is supposed to be drunk applied in the days (decades) before central heating or air conditioning. In a European climate this would normally have been about 20 degrees Celsius or 68 Fahrenheit.

Obviously now that wine is drunk all over the civilised world, room temperatures can vary greatly.

In a warm climate, both red and white wine will probably need chilling. White wine is kept in the fridge or a cooler in many countries as it’s far more refreshing when drunk cold. Red may also need some chilling if room temperatures are too high.

Even chilled beer is drunk with ice cubes in some places including Thailand and Laos.
